#BagItForward

Today was a fun day. Today I got to use my spiritual gift. I am a giver. I adore it. Nothing makes me as giddy as giving to someone else AND I got to go shopping on top of it. Good on good.

It is back to school time and lots of kids need help with the massive amount of things they need to be ready. I have always loved school supplies. Since I was a little girl I can remember getting super excited about buying pencils and glue. I guess that's why I grew up and became a teacher.

Today Little Bit, Pap Pap, and I headed to Walmart to fill a few backpacks with back to school supplies. If you would like to see my trip to Walmart check out my ThisMoment.

The best part of this trip started here

when I included my son in the gift of giving. I know he is to little to understand yet but he has been involved in the process of being generous since he was six months old. I was so excited about my Bag It Forward trip that I shared it with the sweet cashier. Here she is holding up the Elmer's Clear School Glue.

Dad packed up Little Bit and I packed up our donations.

I drove us over to Roy's Gym. Roy is a good Godly man who takes the teachings of Jesus very literally. He has opened up his gym to homeless people and he donates space for a food pantry. Last year I had the idea of making up a few bags of school supplies to leave in the food pantry. Hungry families visit the pantry to get groceries. It seemed to me a great place to leave school supplies. I am a sucker for tradition so I thought making up a few backpacks each year would be a terrific way to give.

When you leave Roy's Gym you are blessed by this view.

Isn't that terrific? I had so much fun participating in the Bag It Forward program. If you would like to help out some kids in your community to have enough school supplies to start the year you can upload your photos here with other bloggers who are helping to Bag It Forward.

You know another really cool thing Elmer's is doing right now? From July 25 to September 1 for each “like” on the Elmer’s Facebook page the company will donate a product to the Foundation’s national network of free stores. This is a place where teachers from disadvantaged schools can “shop” for free for school supplies. That is pretty amazing. I hope you will hop on over there and "like" Elmer's on Facebook to help out. What an easy way to give back huh?

Elmer's is also a Upromise partner! Each time you purchase an Elmer's or Krazy Glue product with your registered drug or grocery card part of your purchase is put into your Upromise account. More information can be found here. They are a pretty cool company huh?

Amazing day? Yep, it sure was. Do you give school supplies to local kids? If so, where do you donate them at?

“This project has been compensated as part of a social shopper insights study for Elmer's #BagItForward #collectivebias. I had tons of fun doing this and all of the opinions are my own.

  1. What a great post!! :) :)
I give to our school, my two oldest are in 4th & 1st, their classrooms ask for donations and considering they use all supplies to teach our children, this is where I donate first. The amount of time, money, and patience our teachers put into our kids I think they deserve a filled classroom of supplies. :) Plus goodies, can't forget those morning cookies I send their way!

  7. What a fun, generous opportunity for you and your family! This is our first year buying school supplies and it really can add up, especially if someone has more than one child. The children who receive those backpacks will be so blessed!

  8. I love reading about the creative ways Moms include their kids with charitable giving! It's such an important lesson and including them in the fun will impact their actions as an adult. Good work!
