My First Completed Quilt And A Way To Help The People Of Japan

I started quilting when I was pregnant with Little Bit. I was on partial bed rest and needed something to pass the time. The wonderful ladies at Church held a class to pass on their skills to the younger generation. I gladly learned from their wisdom. I took on a huge project. I wanted to complete a full/queen quilt for my Mom for Christmas. I started this project in September and I had no sewing machine. The whole thing had to be hand sewn and quilted. I got pretty far. The quilt is still pieced together in a bag in my closet. The actual hand quilting killed my fingers so I abandoned the project and then Little Bit came. At that point quilting was the last thing on my mind.

Recently I have been getting the sewing bug again. The bug paired with a sewing machine that Hubs got me for Christmas the year I was pregnant with Little Bit made the thought of crafting very appealing lately.

Then I read a post by a dear bloggy friend that sent me into action.

Quilting Ranny is calling all those quilters out there to get moving and make some blankets for the people of Japan. I was blessed enough to finish my very first quilt. It is a baby blanket. It's not perfect but I am feeling pretty blessed that Ranny's call to help Japan inspired me to finish a quilt.

If you would like to join the challenge go here and get the details. I hope some of you will feel inspired to help Japan in such a real and personal way. Have a blessed week and happy quilting!
