Adoption Paperwork, Decisions, and Frustrations

If you have been reading Social Studies Momma for a bit you will know that Hubs and I are in the process of adopting a baby from Ethiopia. We started this process back in September.

At first we were on fire. We chewed through paperwork. We ran here and there gathering information. We went at a break neck pace for several months. I started to feel overwhelmed. Like I had to go at this pace. Like I had to do it all as soon as possible.

The holidays came and we stopped. Stopped filling out paperwork and put off a very big decision. The decision was, who would raise our precious children if we were to die? Oh the heartache in such a decision.

I am happy to say that we are finally back on the paperwork train. The important decision was made and the people we chose happily accepted our request to raise our children if we should go home to heaven before our babies.

I am also resting in the Lords timing. Within the last few weeks God has provided us with enough money to cover the first round of big fees. I take that as a sign to get my behind in gear. I hear you God, thanks for the message!

  1. Oh bless your heart! Surely, in His time everything will be in their proper places. Bless your heart that you know how to listen and see His signs :)

  3. My husband and I were just talking about that decision and it really is SO hard. We haven't decided yet, but I definitely understand what a difficult choice it is.

  4. I wondered why we hadn't been hearing about the adoption. I just thought you were in the waiting period. My Hubs nephew and his wife just got a little boy from China. It was suppose to be a girl but for some reason they ended up with a little boy who is handicapped.

  5. It's so hard to wait! But so worth it. Praying the journey continues with minimal bumps.
