I am a huge fan of giving. It literally thrills me. Yesterday I got to do a very special project. I was able to anonymously bless my Master Teacher (my teacher when I was a student teacher) with a bag of #BagItForward goodies. It was so much fun to shop for the things I knew he needed. The only bummer was not being able to say hi while I was there, although with school only days away from starting I know he is very busy. I also know that it is extremely hard to stock a classroom on a teachers salary. I was so happy to be able to help him with some of that financial burden.
I went to Walmart and found loads of goodies for Eric's classroom. He is a genius when it comes to engaging children in history and has written an interactive book for them to complete. This requires the use of lots of glue sticks, school glue, and integrated projects. I also filled his bag with items that I know he donates to his kids like the binders that they use to keep their interactive book in.
This trip didn't just benefit Eric and his students though. Little Bit also got some gain from it. Every time I purchase a Elmer's or Krazy Glue product some of the proceeds go into his Upromise account. I love that I can save for his college education just by shopping for things I need.
Having been a teacher I know first hand the incredible amount of your own personal resources teachers pour into their classrooms. Most teachers make very little money compared to the amount of money it costs for a college education. If everyone helped by donating a bag of supplies it would make a huge impact. I encourage you all to head to the Bag It Forward website. Learn about the movement to lend a hand and donate a bag to help children and educators have a more successful school year.

What an awesome idea! My sister works at a school too and I know she spends money out of pocket for supplies for the kids that is never reimbursed. People are really in it for the love of kids and education. Great way to involve your son in a teachable moment and you got to contribute to his college savings at the same time!
