And The Rotten Parent Award Goes To... Me!

Hubs is away on business so Little Bit are fending for ourselves for a while. Things have been humming along until disaster struck this afternoon. Little Bit and I had gone out to pick up some rolls for the meal ministry on Monday and we scooted by Aldi for a few things.

I had let Little Bit sleep in the car and read my Kindle while he finished up his nap before we got out at the bread store. I figured he would be wound tight for several more hours at least. Our trip home takes about 20-30 minutes depending on traffic. When we got home I looked in the backseat and Little Bit was awake. Score! Nap this afternoon.

Either he slept a little or it is more of this transitioning to one nap nonsense because he so didn't take an afternoon nap. He happily played in his crib for an hour before I busted him out.

In my infinite parenting wisdom I though I would delay dinner by thirty minutes and scoot him straight into bed afterward. Dinner was in the oven and the wailing began. Not the crying you can ignore. Nope, full on wailing. For an hour. I even tried to feed him crunchies for dinner because the stuff in the oven was no where near ready. Nope. I put my Little Bit to bed with no dinner. I hereby award myself the crappy parent of the year trophy. It's so hard doing this job alone. I salute all those single parents out there. I don't know how you do it and frankly I don't care to find out. Hubs I know your read this so get your backside on the next flight home! Momma and Little Bit are struggling without you!

  2. That does not make you a bad parent, just a normal momma whose plans didn't quite work out the way you wanted them to. Smile and God will take care of all the rest. You are doing great, take it from a single parent. =)

    God bless you!

  3. Guess he just needed to go to sleep more than he needed to eat. Good mother you are!

  5. It's so hard to keep a balance between what should be done, what you want done and what they want done. Have had 2 kids to raise myself, many times on my own... not easy but then again, I guess no parent ever had it easy. You'll just have to start baking a bit earlier next time round!!

  6. I recently gave myself a similar award for being cranky at my children all day long and yelling a little too much. I think parents spend their children's entire lives learning far more than the kid ever does.

Here's hoping you have a much better day today!

  7. You're not a bad mom at all!! I've had the same thing happen with Abby before. Sometimes they just need the sleep way more than dinner. No worries!

  8. I've done this more than once. I don't think you can claim that award just yet. There are far worse things you can do...
