Nick and I went for our weekly doctors appointment today. Our OBGYN has a ton of doctors so this is one we have never meet before. The doctor came into the office with a rather serious look on his face. He quickly measured me and listened to Gabriel's heartbeat. Then he laid it on the line. You are 39 weeks along and measuring at 43. You have gestational diabetes and this baby has not dropped. I think you should go ahead and plan a C-Section.
I knew it was coming. I tried to convince myself he would come all on his own and that my 5'3" frame could deliver this massive 9lb. child, but in my heart I knew. The old doctor asked who I would like to deliver my baby so we could schedule a day. How weird is it schedule your child's birthday? We picked the doctor who has seen us through most of this pregnancy. The high risk pregnancy specialist. Her secretary called my cell phone on the way home. We are to come in on Monday for a pre-op appointment and she will deliver our son at 8am on Wednesday the 27th.
Wow it is finally here. We know the day, shoot we even know the hour. Such a strange experience. This has been a long and rather worrisome pregnancy. I have gestational diabetes and a partially separated placenta, so I went on partial bed rest for months. It was a hard time for me. One person who has been there consistently for moral support is my Mom. I got her, my Dad, and my Mother-In-Law some little presents and cards, but for Mom it just doesn't feel like enough. She has comforted me when I was down, run errands for me, and talked to me at least once a day for an hour throughout this whole ordeal No matter how grumpy I was she still stood by me. Today I found an awesome present for her. A set of pearl earrings! Why buy them when you can win them? Rockin Mama is hosting a giveaway for a lovely set of pearl earrings from pearlparadise.com that my Mom would love to have. Here's hoping that I can pick up a super special gift for my Mom <3
