Halloween has passed and the holiday season is upon us. I love this time of year. I love the busyness of it. Going to this family gathering, running to that store for a great deal on the perfect gift, and the countless hours spent making everything just right.
Through the hustle and bustle of the season I also like to take time for the holiday comforts. These comforts are things that keep me happy and energized during the most demanding and joyful time of the year.
First on that list is coffee. I drink coffee year round but come early November my little coffee shop starts selling flavored coffee. There are two especially for Christmas time, Frosty’s Favorite and Jingle Bell Java. My heart leaps at the very thought of these tasty delights.
Next is my fireplace. I love the warm crackling of a wood burning fireplace. I grew up in a historic home. Our only source of heat was a wood stove. The fireplace really brings back those precious childhood memories of snuggling up next to the stove.
Christmas music is another sweet holiday comfort. My Mom has indoctrinated me from a young age to love Christmas music. I probably know all the words to every holiday tune that Burl Ives and Bing Crosby ever uttered. What a simple and great joy it is to listen to their beautiful voices sing such positive message of hope and love.
Lastly is the tremendous gift of a good night of sleep. Hubs and I were blessed enough to purchase a new mattress earlier this year. We indulged in a wonderfully comfortable and large Tempur-Pedic king sized mattress. We have both enjoyed the many restful nights and ease of our back pain. A good night’s rest is such a blessing during the holiday season.
What are your holiday comforts? What keeps your energized during the hustle and the bustle?
Comfort is the perfect gift for everyone on your holiday gift list, so be sure to take advantage of Tempur-Pedic's Buy 2, get 1 free pillow offer! I was selected for this sponsorship by the Clever Girls Collective.
You're a girl after my own heart. This is my favorite time of year too. I am so happy it's November.. I've just spent the last hour planning my homemade gifts for the nieces. They want hats this year so I've got to get crocheting! Going to hobby lobby tonight. =D
ReplyDeleteI grew up on Burl Ives, and Bing,.... plus Gene Autry singing Rudolph The Red Nosed Reindeer. My Daughter says he is the only one that can sing Rudolph and sound good.
ReplyDeleteI too love a fireplace, but as I get older I would rather not have all the clean up.
A good nights sleep is a blessing indeed! Thanks for the post :)
ReplyDeleteJust found you through the blog hop and I am your newest follower via GFC. Hope you can stop by and check out my blog as well.
xo
I didn't even take my Christmas music off the stereo from last year. LOL
ReplyDeleteThis is my comfort thing. Wake up in the morning with a fire in the fire place and turn on twinkling lights that do not light up the room but twinkle and have a nice cup of coffee and realize how fortunate I am to be able to do this while Nat King Cole sings Chestnuts roasting over an open fire.....
Coffee! LOL
ReplyDeleteI'm a new follower because of http://www.bassgiraffe.com 's blog hop!

I love snuggling up in a comfy cozy bed! Thanks for the link!
ReplyDeleteI don't drink coffee but the Christmas music and fireplace are by far the best.
ReplyDeleteI just want to curl up and sleep! :) but if I did, the kids would drag me out of the bed...which pretty much ruins the moment ..:)
ReplyDeleteMy daughter is already listening to Christmas music and I just shake my head. The fireplace is more up my ally. I love the crackle, the warmth and the sense of peace I embrace when reading by a fire.
ReplyDeleteThis time of year I'm all about the cups of coffee or cocoa, hearty amazing meals, togetherness with family, chill in the air, fires in the fireplaces and even the twinkling lights. Christmas music...ehhh...not my favorite thing, but it's better than gangsta rap or country ;)
ReplyDeleteAs for a good night's sleep.....do they even make those anymore? LOL I'll have to test out a Tempur-Pedic someday....if it'll help that much.
Here from the Thirsty for Comments Thursday hop. So glad you linked up and will look forward to seeing you again next week!
