I love Valentines Day. Not the commercialism but the idea behind it. The celebration of love. The longer we are married the more important it becomes to cherish the romance and declare it to the one you love.
This year hubs blew my socks off. This is a rarity for two people married for a decade. Yesterday when Little Bit went down for his nap Hubs told me he had to make my Valentines present. An hour passed, Little Bit woke up and Hubs was still in there. Finally he emerged and presented me with the most thoughtful gift he has ever given me.
He had burned my favorite Psalm into a wooden plaque. Psalm 23 has always been soothing to me.
"The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.
He makes me lie down in green pastures.
He leads me beside still waters.
He restores my soul.
He leads me in paths of righteousness
for his name's sake.
Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil,
for you are with me;
your rod and your staff,
they comfort me.
You prepare a table before me
in the presence of my enemies;
you anoint my head with oil;
my cup overflows.
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me
all the days of my life,
and I shall dwell in the house of the Lord
forever."
I have never been so touched. What a thoughtful gift. He had planned it for months. What is even neater is that we have been studying prayer at small group Bible study. Last Friday I had picked this very prayer as my favorite from the Bible. The Lord gave him this idea and affirmed it. How perfect is that? Happy Valentines Day everyone!
